IndiGo fleet
The airline now has 81 Airbus A320’s in its fleet and is expanding its fleet at about one aircraft a month. With the lack of a turbo-prop capable of short-field landing, IndiGo cannot operate to some of the smaller cities like Hubli etc., which do not have runways long enough to cater to jets and therefore we see the airline operating multiple frequencies on many routes. This is posing a challenge to the airline in maintaining passenger load factors, especially on mid-day flights.
Bangalore – the new battleground with AirAsia
The new focus on Bangalore by IndiGo and other Indian carriers like Jet Airways and SpiceJet is driven by the competition with new entrant AirAsia India. The Tony Fernandes promoted carrier currently uses Bangalore as its hub and flies to Goa, Kochi and Chennai. AirAsia will soon commence services to Chandigarh and Jaipur and hence IndiGo is commencing flights before the new challenger gets its second aircraft with which it will expand its schedule. AirAsia has countered with aggressive fares ahead of its planned launch.

Good for BLR flyers. Hope Indigo or Air Asia will start BLR-DXB and challenge the Emirates’s disproportionate fares
Surprising that no other airline is flying this busy route. Hope Indigo/ TATA- SIA do so soon. Kingfisher’s evening flight to Dubai was doing quite well till the route was stopped.
But still no International flights from Bangalore by Indigo…
Indigo has got 1260 seats for DXB-BLR route recently from DGCA 🙂
Wow, so many additions for Bangalore. The Air Asia affect is showing! This is good news and maybe just a matter of time before Indigo announces an international flight from BLR.
Thrs nothing bout ths in d link
What was the reason behind withdrawing BLR BKK fligts by SG..coz i had travelled few times on the route and it was full to its capacity….
1260 means 7 days operation all economy 180 seats. Hope they take up the IT slots( evening departure both sides) DWC could be a good option for Indigo/Spice in future, if they want to team up with Gulf +European LCCs .
