Lufthansa opens ‘new design concept’ lounge at New Delhi IGI airport, first of its kind in Asia

Just six days after making New Delhi as the first Asian destination for the new Boeing 747-8i, German carrier Lufthansa has opened its ‘new global design concept’ lounge at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), the first of its type in Asia.

Lufthansa’s new lounge concept includes enhanced design elements like poster walls and comforting accessories. The walls are designed with wing-view motives to give guests a feeling of sitting inside an aircraft. Specially manufactured designer furniture includes ergonomically designed lounging chairs. The lounge offers the expected amenities of complimentary hot and cold dishes and snacks, a variety of non and alcoholic beverages, workstations and Wi-Fi internet.

The Lufthansa lounge, Delhi, is located in the main atrium of Terminal 3, and spreads across 3,767 square feet (approx. 350 m2) and can seat up to 131 travellers.

This is the second Lufthansa lounge in India. The first lounge was opened, in 2009, at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA), Mumbai.

The Lufthansa Lounge in Delhi is for exclusive use by First and Business class ticket holders of Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines, HON, Senator and Frequent Traveller cardholders from the Miles and More frequent flyer programme.

Unlike the Mumbai lounge, the Lufthansa, Delhi lounge is not open to Star Alliance Gold members of other airlines.
