Brazilian airframer Embraer announced its first order of the 2019 Paris air show, an order for upto 39 E175s for United Airlines. The order which is valued at USD 1.9 billion at list prices includes a firm order for 20 E175s and options for 19 more.

The aircraft will be configured in a 70 seat configuration and will be join United regional fleet from the second quarter of 2020 onward.

The aircraft will be used to replace existing 70 seat aircraft with United’s regional partners, likely older Bombardier CRJs. It is essential for United to replace existing aircraft since it is limited by agreements with pilot unions to a limited fleet of 255 aircraft of 70-76 seats.

United’s regional partners already operate over 150 Embraer E175 aircraft.
