The EU regulator European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued a Safety Information Bulletin (SIB) No. 2015-02 warning all national aviation authorities and aircraft operators of “an increased risk to flight operation safety due to potential terrorist attacks in Pakistan”

The bulletin goes on to state “The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) recommends all operators to exercise extreme caution if planning to fly into, out of, within or above Pakistan airspace and to monitor all relevant information, including NOTAMs [notice to airmen]. National Aviation Authorities should ensure that operators under their oversight are aware of such information.”

The warning has been prompted by the French DGAC which has mandated all French operators not to fly below an altitude of 24,000ft when in Pakistani airspace.

Many of India’s and South East Asia’s airlines flying to and from Europe routinely overfly Pakistan on their flights.
