The promoters of New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) have introduced a ‘Park N Fly‘ scheme at the new Multi Level Car Park (MLCP) at Terminal 3 (T3). The car park is the largest in India with a capacity of 4300 vehicles spread across seven floors.
The Park N Fly facility is available at the premium parking area on the ground level with a dedicated customer service desk, secured and guarded parking space with CCTV cameras, and a dedicated fire fighting system. DIAL is incentivising passengers who are flying out for an extended period with charges of Rs. 500 for the first day, Rs. 400 for the second, and 300 for each additional day thereafter. Compare this to Rs. 900 per day charged for the normal premium area car parking. Therefore a passenger will cummulatively pay Rs. 500, 900, 1,200, and 1,500 for days 1, 2, 3 and 4 as compared to the normal premium area fees of Rs. 900, 1,800, 2,700 and Rs. 3,600 or the normal regular area fees of Rs. 600, 1,200, 1,800, and 2,400 respectively. For reasons best known to the promoters, there is no equivalent scheme in the regular parking area.
The parking is also connected to the T3 building through a corridor at ground level and via air-conditioned skywalk with travelators on the second level. The parking is also connected to the Airport Metro Express Line. The car park is built along the lines of modern car parks found at airports in the developed world with an automated Space Availability Display System (SADS), and collection of payments at centralised booths located on each level before picking up vehicle, enabling a quick exit.
The normal car parking charges for shorter stays at T3 are:
Premium (Ground floor)
- Upto 30 mins – Rs. 70
- 30 mins to 2 hrs – Rs 140
- Each subsequent hour up to 8 hrs – Rs. 70 per hour
- 8 hrs to 24 hrs – Rs. 900
Regular (Upper floors)
- Upto 30 mins – Rs. 50
- 30 mins to 2 hrs – Rs 100
- Each subsequent hour up to 8 hrs – Rs. 50 per hour
- 8 hrs to 24 hrs – Rs. 600
