US airframer Boeing has donated of the original 787-8 Dreamliner flight test airplanes to the Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington state, USA.

Airframe ZA003 is the third 787-8 produced and was used for flight testing and certification of the new aircraft. It was subsequently used for the ‘Dream Tour’ during 2011 and 2012, flying to 23 countries and showcasing the new airplane to over 68,000 visitors.

Employees of Boeing also presented the museum with artifacts like a commemorative cachet carried aboard the 787’s first flight, and early artist renderings of the 7E7 as the concept aircraft was known before being named the 787.

The Museum of Flight is an independent body and an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution. It is one of the largest air and space museums in the world, attracting more than 500,000 visitors annually. It is located at Boeing Field, at 9404 E. Marginal Way South, Seattle, Exit 158 off Interstate 5, south of downtown Seattle.
