Jet Airways is in the midst of a financial crunch. The airline has had issues paying its staff and reportedly grounded aircraft. Lately, the airline has also had to make cuts to its passenger experience with meal quality reportedly going down.
The airline had also stopped access to the lounge at Mumbai airport due to a dispute with the airport operator MIAL over unpaid bills.
Now the airline has gone a step further and eliminated all lounge access for its Platinum and Gold members effective 1st December. The airline is also eliminating lounge access for silver members at Abu Dhabi.
While the airline definitely needs to cut unnecessary costs in both its current situation and the general business environment. I wonder if Jet is doing more harm than good by targeting its most loyal customers. Eliminating access for only Gold members and leaving Platinum untouched may have been a better option.
