European airframer Airbus has officially revealed the new name and branding of the former Bombardier CSeries. The Airbus A220 as it will be called was revealed at a ceremony held at Airbus’ Delivery Centre, near Toulouse.
The larger CS300 will be rebranded as the Airbus A220-300 and the smaller CS100 as the Airbus A220-100. The aircraft are designed to seat 100-150 passengers.

The CSieres had picked up only 402 orders over the last 10 years and has only delivered 36 aircraft. With Airbus’ support the A220 program will aim to drastically increase both sales and production of the aircraft. The new program has already picked up an order of 60 aircraft from JetBlue just after being launched.
Airbus will also open a second assembly line for the A220 at it’s plant in Mobile, Alabama. The line will use common painting and delivery facilities with the existing A320 lines.
