Lufthansa, Amadeus sign contract to deliver new load control system

German flag carrier Deutsche Lufthansa AG has signed a major framework contract with airline IT company Amadeus to deliver a new load control system. The airline will adopt the Amadeus Altea Departure Control Flight Management (Altea DC-FM) system across its network carriers, starting with Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines, Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa Cargo.

The system to be adopted will automate aircraft load control and optimize every flight departure. This will be done by analyzing fuel requirement along with passenger and cargo load. It will then conduct experiments to provide results for the aircraft to maintain optimal load distribution. Upon implementation, 3,000 daily flights of the Lufthansa group will have optimized load control.

The Lufthansa group as Europe’s largest airline in terms of fleet and passengers carried, is now the first of many airline groups to adopt the system across all of its network carriers. By replacing its legacy system with a new, state-of-the-art flight management solution it looks forward to improved operational efficiency.
