A Spicejet Bombardier Q400 operating flight SG1085 from Bangalore to Hubli had a runway excursion on landing at Hubli Airport. The aircraft which was carrying 78 passengers and crew had landed on the runway at around 19.10 local and when it veered off the runway and came to a halt with the left main landing gear collapsed.
The aircraft was evacuated and no injuries have been reported. The aircraft would have sustained damage to it’s left propellor, engine and landing gear.
It is reported that the aircraft arrived over the aerodrome at 18.40 local and was holding due to the adverse weather. It began to commence it’s approach at around 19.05.
Spicejet had recently resumed it’s Hubli service on 1st of March after the aerodrome was shut down for runway expansion.
Hope the aircraft VT-SUA is not a write-off…
