Air India and Air Astana enter into code-share agreement

National carrier Air India has entered in to a code-share agreement with the flag carrier of Kazakhstan Air Astana JSC. Air India’s Chairman and Managing Director Rohit Nandan and Air Astana’s Vice President – Sales Worldwide, Richard Ledger, signed the agreement.

The agreement commences with Air India placing its airline code (AI) on daily flights between New Delhi and Almaty operated Air Astana (KC). This will be the second gateway for Air India after its flights to Moscow. As per a release the agreement is the start of a partnership which the two airlines plan to extend beyond Almaty and New Delhi. AI will place its codes on more KC flights beyond Almaty while Air Astana will place its KC codes on AI’s domestic and international network beyond New Delhi. This expansion is subject to connectivity and regulatory approvals.
