The Indian Navy has taken delivery of it’s 5th Boeing P-8I maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare aircraft as part of a contract for eight aircraft with Boeing.
The aircraft tail number IN324 arrived at INS Rajali also known as Arokkanam naval air station, after a flight from Seattle’s Boeing Field. The aircraft joins the four previously delivered P-8Is which are stationed at the air base.
The P-8I is the Indian Navy variant of the P-8A Poseidon, a maritime reconnaissance, surveillance, and patrol aircraft developed by Boeing for the US Navy. Both aircraft are based on the popular Boeing 737 Next-Generation commercial jetliner.

The P-8I incorporates Indian and third-country-built sub-systems that are designed to meet the Indian Navy’s maritime patrol requirements.
