In case you hadn’t heard, there’s a hurricane coming for the US East Coast. Irene is expected to make landfall in North Carolina on Saturday; and hit New York City and the like by late Sunday/early Monday.
Therefore, I’ve put together a list of resources and advisories regarding the hurricane; I’ll be updating these over the next two days as more information comes out.
Confirmed Cancellations:
Delta- Flights departing to/from JFK, EWR & LGA will be cancelled on Sunday 08/28 due to the forecast of Hurricane Irene
Iberia- Due to Hurricane Irene, all flights to NYC on Sunday 8/28 are cancelled. Effect on flights on Saturday 8/27 TBD
SWISS- All Swiss flights to and from JFK/EWR are cancelled on 8/28.
LAN– offering option to reschedule flights w/o penalties for travel to/from #JFK affected by Hurricane #Irene
Air France- Sunday, Aug 28, all AF flights into/out of EWR, JFK, and BOS have been cancelled. All flights to/from IAD as well as AF008 and AF009 flying into and out of JFK have been cancelled this Saturday, Aug. 27.
JetBlue– will scrap 75 percent of its Aug. 28 trips among 882 cancellations through Aug. 29, primarily out of Boston and New York JFK
American Airlines- American will suspend service at Washington-area airports for about 24 hours starting at noon tomorrow (Saturday the 27th), said Tim Smith, a spokesman.
Virgin America- All Virgin America flights that arrive or depart IAD from Saturday afternoon, August 27 through Sunday afternoon, August 28, all Virgin America flights that arrive or depart JFK from Saturday afternoon, August 27 through Monday afternoon, August 29, and all Virgin America flights that arrive or depart BOS from late evening, Saturday August 27 through late Sunday evening, August 28 are cancelled.
United Airlines + Continental Airlines: Due to the approach of Hurricane Irene, United and Continental have pre-canceled about 2,300 flights for August 27 and August 28. Most affected are the airline’s hubs at Washington-Dulles and Newark.
